«My work encompasses the aesthetics that characterize American Expressionism and the manifests of the European Surrealism. I am fascinated by the monochromes, the simplicity of the unsaturated color and the texture of the paste that gives form to the abstract and the independent. I consciously use large scale dimensions. In this way, I mentally place myself within my paintings declaring my presence everywhere in the space. The big surface creates an unexplainable and uncanny
environment. Light and space are the two key words that realize my whole action. The use of color is a venue for energy, experiences and emotions, as well as personal anxieties. My canvas is often overloaded or denuded by the weight of the materials, creating layering and highlighting forms and shapes.I am inevitably carrying this process from the past, as an apprentice during my academic years ,when I filled my canvases with details giving to my images a "photographic" precision. From my perspective I consider this as important as a theorem that always remains in tact in the evolution of science. The whole action of painting provides me with a mystagogical approach that provides answers and illuminates what is not visible at first sight. For me, it feels as a dialogue between what does not exist and what is going to be created. It is a constant tendency for self determination. Each of my works has a totally unique identity, a step towards the "other", a demonstration of the never ending challenge of objectivity and the never ending search for the person–artist. In my work, I am hiding my
obsession to stimulate the human brain and unlock the viewers’ ability to perspect my aniconic images. I often find myself captivated by my urge to involve myself in this ‘’delirium’’, which eventually comes back to find me indulged and excited.» (Eleni Gkinosati).
